Summary: Vantage Data Centers confirmed the availability of 12 MW of contiguous space within its V2 building located at its Santa Clara campus on 2820 Northwestern Parkway.
Details: Management revealed that 6 MW out of the available 12 MW are fully commissioned and ready for fit out. The 12 MW of capacity is in addition to a 3 MW build recently shared in 3Q15. Vantage uses slab-on-grade instead of raised floor and claims that its facility operates with a 1.2 PUE on an annualized average basis by taking advantage of the Bay Area climate and using outside air economization for an average of 300 days a year.
Santa Clara: Vantage’s Santa Clara data centre campus consists of three data centre buildings currently supported by 36 MW of usable critical IT load and with the potential to support a total 55 MW of critical IT load at full build out.
Deals: Vantage recently secured three colocation deals. Two of them were smaller sized deals – one was an existing customer expansion and the other was a new Internet customer making its first move into using wholesale colocation. The third deal was a much larger multi-MW deal with an existing customer to run a production environment. Proximity to Silicon Valley was an important driver. In terms of power density, management noted a marginal increase in kW/rack density deployed.
